How to make a lookbook (with a free template).

A modern fashion lookbook is a curated set of styled images that communicate what a collection stands for. Here's how to make one, with or without a physical shoot.

Step 1: Define the story

Before you shoot a single image, write two sentences: what season is this, and what feeling should a buyer walk away with? Every model, pose, background, and styling choice serves that answer.

Step 2: Choose your looks

Pick 8–15 looks for a small collection, 25–40 for a full seasonal drop. Style each one head-to-toe including accessories. Sketch or moodboard before you shoot.

Step 3: Shoot, or generate

The traditional path is a full production day. The modern path is to upload each finished piece to Looknish, pick a consistent model, and generate. A 40-look lookbook that used to take three weeks now takes an afternoon.

Step 4: Layout

Use one grid, one type system, and one grade across the whole lookbook. If you're not a designer, start from a template, Canva and Figma both have modern fashion lookbook templates that hold up. Export as a PDF and a web page.

Step 5: Distribute

Send to buyers and press with a short cover email. Post the web version on your site. Break individual looks out for Instagram and Pinterest. The lookbook is a hub, every other channel is a spoke.
